2024/05/04 - May Motor-In
« about: January 09, 2024, 02:27:42 PM »

Hello QCC, For the May meeting, Sandy & I are inviting y'all to explore a little bit of Kentucky.  Well.......maybe a LOT!  That is, if you care to exercise your MINI please meet at 3:15 at Devou Park in Covington.  We will gather at the parking lot for Drees Pavilion 790 Park Lane Covington, KY 41011.  At 3:30 we will start up and circle the MINIs around the circle for a possible photo opt with the Cincy skyline in the background.  Then we will follow each other for almost 40 mile, one hour fifteen minute tour of Park Hills, Burlington, and then Boone County back roads to our home in Union, KY.  Here is a link to the route:  https://maps.app.goo.gl/BJ1g7d4amoUXFd1D9

If you wish to skip this pre-drive part, please arrive directly to our house by 5:00 PM.  Address is 10179 Russwill Lane Union, KY 41091-9572. Home phone is 859-384-1345. Cell home is 859-818-4785. Back up into our black top driveway for easier departure, or park on the uphill side of the street. The brief motor-in will start about 5:30 followed by a "Derby Party".  Yes, at 6:45 the horses will post up for "the most exciting two minutes in sports".  BYOB but we will have some goodies to enjoy for you.  Do not need to bring anything else.  The club will pay for the snacks, soft drinks, and water, etc.

We will have a TV and plenty of seating for the big race.  There may even be a pot for you to try your luck.  Split the pot and/or pick a $2 horse from the track and see who wins the stack.  Derby party ends whenever it ends.  Please register on the web site so we have an idea of how much soup to make and brownies to bake.  May be a mint julep in your future?  Hope to see you "down the road".

Thanks, President Dale

Mint julep is an alcoholic cocktail, consisting primarily of bourbon, sugar, water, crushed or shaved ice, and fresh mint. As a bourbon-based cocktail, it is associated with the American South and the cuisine of the Southern United States in general, and the Kentucky Derby in particular. source: Wikipedia
