MINIs and Things / Tyrion
« Last post by careymij about February 21, 2013, 07:10:42 PM »
I bought my MINI Cooper Countryman S on July 25th, 2011.  The first time I drove it was when i drove it off the lot.
Some would say that was a mistake, I think it is one of the best things I've ever done....car wise that is.
Here is a picture of Tyrion when I first got him home

Off the lot, he had the JCW Aero kit, and the JVW Sport stripes.  He has both the bonnet and hood sport stripes.  I believe that
Tyrion has the Cold Weather Package installed too.  At the time he was built, Japan was recovering from the tsunami, so he
doesn't have some of the other packages I'd want.  I have the Nav system, with the fully upgraded radio too.

The first things I purchased for Tyrion were some new snow shows.  He come with the anthracite wheels and performance summer tires.  I purchased a set of performance winter tires, and chrome wheels for him.  The tires were great, as I've had no problems at all in snow or ice.

I have had a few other things done to him.  The mods include

Samco Turbo Hoses
NM Engineering Hi-Flow Intake Kit
NM Engineering Engine Torque Arm Insert
NM Engineering RS Alpha Spring Kit
Helix Rear Adjustable Control Arms

These were all installed by Chad from Detroit Tuned.  At the time, he even custom fit the Engine Torque Arm Insert, as NM
Engineering only made it for the ALL4.  Below are some pictures of the mod'd car

The new parts!

Turbo Tubes (red) and Air Intake

Close up of above

R60s without wheels and new springs on

Stock Suspension (side view)

Lowered (side view)..about 1.6" in the front, and 1.4" in the read.

Lowering my car was a great move.  it handles so much better, and doesn't have that top heavy feel anymore.
I haven't had any issues bottoming out yet, but I did need to replace the rear control arms, and get an expert
alignment done.

Another beautiful day in the Keys. There are no twisty roads but there are plenty of Minis here. Most are ragtops. We have only seen a couple Countryman and they were in Miami.  Hope you have a good Motor In  . . . Hate to miss but the weather here is just toooo good to leave.

Queen City Cooper Events / REGISTERING - How to Register for Events
« Last post by LKnight about January 28, 2013, 10:42:54 AM »
Some people have been having difficulty registering for events, so I have created some simple (I hope) steps so this is easier for all.

1) Log into the site with your user name and password (if you do not log in you will not be able to register)
2) Click on the calendar link at the navigation at the top of the page
3) At the bottom of the calendar that is shown on the screen, there is a drop down that you can navigate to the month and year of the event you want to register for, in this instance February 2013
4) Each event on the calendar is a live link to the info and forum page for the event, so click on the event you are looking to sign up for.
5) This click will take you to the main page for the event, at the top there is a button that says "register for this event"-- click on this button to register.
6) This page will navigate you to a page where you can select the # of people who are coming with you and allow you to post a comment about the event or registration if you desire, but you can also leave the comment section blank if that is what you want.
7) Click the "save" button and you are now registered for the event.

If you do not like to go to the calendar to find events (I personally find this the easiest route), you can also get to all the events via the events forums.  When you select the forum, the registration link is at the top of each event and works just as indicated in steps 5-7 above.

You can also ask questions or comments in the forum about the event as well.  This is a great feature so everyone can see what questions others have to avoid duplicated e-mails.

Please let me know if you have any additional problems and I hope this works for you.

MINIs and Things / New Member; Sharing my recent Deals Gap trip
« Last post by MK_MINI about January 28, 2013, 10:08:50 AM »
Hello everyone! My name is Mike and I used to work for Cincinnati MINI, so I'm seeing a lot of familiar faces. I figured for my first post I'd share my latest adventure to Deals Gap. This was an impromptu trip and was going to be my first time meeting a ton of people in person. I dealt with them previously online, ordering parts and service advice for BMWs, and it was great to put a face to a (screen)name.  ;D

Here's my MINI a couple miles away to where the fun starts:

Took it easy on my first pass, as it was wet and full of leaves. Made it through great and stopped to take some pictures of the scenery and tree of shame.

Made it to the cabin shortly afterwards. This place was AMAZING!

It was getting dark by the time everyone showed up. Figured we'd save our driving energy for the next day. After great food and drinks were consumed we went to our separate cabins and regrouped in the morning.

Then we drove ALL DAY. I was solo, so no action shots, but a great group shot! Afterwards we enjoyed another night of good food, drinks, and stories. Woke up early the next day and headed home. Was an awesome trip I won't soon forget. Hope you enjoyed reading it. I have more pictures if requested, but I didn't want to bombard you all.  8)

Cheers!

-Mike
