Queen City Cooper Events / Riverrun 2022

This event was brought to our attention by the Nickersons, who have done this drive in the past. Seems like a fun filled day, if you have the time on Labor Day weekend. 

Eric’s Riverrun is a ~280 mile, all-day driving tour using some of Ohio’s most interesting and challenging roads. This year we will head south thru Hocking Hills, Zaleski, then south to Ironton. There are plenty of eating places and parking lots to congregate in. After lunch, we will dip thru Ky and up to Portsmouth (by the Floodwall Mural), then thru Shawnee Forest finishing at Wittich’s in Circleville (open until 6PM on summer hours).

Cars leave the Bob Evans at SR 674 (Gender Rd.) & US 33 (Canal Winchester), between 8 and 9 am. We should be at the Ohio River around 12 – 1 and finish by 6 pm., depending on the time spent sightseeing. There is no fixed schedule - this is a tour rather than a rally. All traffic laws including speed limits must be followed. The route includes a mix of open and flowing roads that connect tight and twisty sections. There’s some 4-lane divided roads in KY but no freeways, and all roads are paved.

The North American MGB Register, the Buckeye Miata Club, and the Central Ohio British Car Club Council invite all driving enthusiasts, regardless of vehicle make, model, or type, to join us on Eric’s Riverrun 2022.

We plan to e-mail the route instructions the week before Sept 3rd to everyone that registers in advance. Eric’s Riverrun 2022 Magnets are available for $20 to those who register in advance. An additional $15 donation for the James Cancer Research fund for Lung cancer in Eric’s memory is suggested.

Send your email address and a check for the magnet and the donation to Susan Logan at 16 Timmons Woods Drive, Delaware, Ohio 43015. Keep in mind the U.S. post office can be slow delivering the mail. Contact Susan Logan at slogan.osu@gmail.com or (740) 815-1554 for more details.

All profit will be donated in Eric Jones’ memory to The James Cancer Research fund for Lung Cancer.

 :( As the GCMC drive leaders ran the route, they encountered three major construction issues. THE DRIVE HAS BEEN CANCELED. We'll try again next year!

THIS EVENT HAS BEEN POSTPONED DUE TO ROAD CONSTRUCTION!

The Greater Cincinnati Miata Club has invited us to join them on a drive to Madison IN.


Tom Draper lived in Madison for four years and will lead us on great backroads drive to Madison. Lunch will be part of the drive.


They are still finalizing the details.

This year the Fall Spirited Drive will be a 3-part event where you can sign up for as much or as little as you'd like to do. 

Here are the details for Part #3:


Part 3: Will be a tour of the beautiful Castle & Key grounds. Cocktails are available on the grounds for those who wish to indulge. Bottles of their rye whiskey, gin, and vodka are available for sale in their gift shop. The gift shop also has many other unique items for sale.

This year the Fall Spirited Drive will be a 3-part event where you can sign up for as much or as little as you'd like to do. 

Here are the details for Part #2:

Part 2: The drive from Red State BBQ to Castle & Key Distillery. This is about a 45 min drive. Castle & Key is a small distillery and makes Bourbon, Rye Whiskey, Vodka and Gin. They only release 100 bottles of Bourbon on Thursday, Friday and Saturday (that's 100 per day). There is a limit of 1 bottle of Bourbon per person. Their Rye Whiskey, Vodka and Gin are for sale in their gift shop as well as other interesting items.
